Fighting the scars bullying has left me, has been a daily exercise, and one of the best remedies for it has been focusing on my creativity and producing works that have an impact on people’s lives. Out of this, I wrote “Being Brave,” in which I convey the depths of despair that I and others experienced when bullied. Beckett, who at first glance appears to be an underdog, transforms into a powerful force that, perhaps, even he didn’t know was inside him. He defies his tormentors, does not accept being made fun of and stands up for himself and the people he loves. “Being Brave” is an intimate portrait of a pivotal moment in Beckett’s life, and I hope it empowers the lives of those who see this movie.
