Filmmaker Statement

Some time in mid-March 2020, at the very start of quarantining ourselves away from COVID19 and each other, I found myself doing the balancing act of staying informed about the rapidly deteriorating circumstances while not losing my mind in anxiety and fear. And often while going about the rhythms of daily life I would be joined by the sound of music. Not my own. Someone else. It was always a single instrument. Seemingly from everywhere at once. Sounded like band practice, but a solo musician...my downstairs neighbor. Daily the music would interrupt me when reading. It would join me when I was cooking. It would distract me when I was working. I could hear it sometimes as I fell asleep. Always unpredictable, unexpected. Over time the sound of music became a nuisance. An interruption. A distraction. I wondered what would happen if I asked my neighbor to stop. That's how this film about art, human connection, and hope began.
