Filmmaker Statement

Spanish film director Carlos Saura has said "childhood is one of the most terrible parts in the life of a human being." It is a harsh statement, but I believe there is truth to it. Through "Lizard", I felt compelled to tell the story of two young children who are forced to navigate such vulnerable and life-changing moments on their own, with no adults around to help them process. My main motivation as I wrote this piece was to honestly portray this idea of lost innocence from a child's perspective. My hope is that as people watch this short they will be driven to ponder the consequences of the actions that can make (or break) our most important relationships.
