Technicolor tells the life story of Byron Sanders, highlighting the pivotal experiences that shaped his sense of self and orientation to his community. The film leans on Byron’s narration, captured direct-to-camera, to drive a series of anecdotes that cover his early childhood fascination with fantasy storytelling, the formation of his racial identity, his recognition of the disparity of opportunity associated with race and class, his commitment to leveling the playing field for kids like himself, the challenges inherent in being a Black CEO in a White-dominated space, and the reason he nevertheless persists in his current work at youth-serving Dallas nonprofit Big Thought – that those fantasy stories he loved as a kid instilled a deep and motivating sense of possibility.
