Filmmaker Statement

“The Charlie and Rylee Show” is a female friendship centered drama that explores the present moment for two young women who were shaped by a shared experience as young girls. In our film, Charlie (Tess Goldwyn) reconnects with her childhood friend, Rylee (Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg), who she had an abrupt falling out with when they were kids. Our film sparks a conversation about life altering choices made by the adults we are surrounded by during our most formative years, and how such choices have a lasting impact on our core relationships. Our film grapples with universal themes of identity, loss, and forgiveness, told through a very personal lens. We are proud of our film, which tackles a profound and serious subject matter, yet does so through levity, humor and clarity of perspective. We are excited to offer this story to the world, and to share with new audiences.
