Filmmaker Statement

We made The Blue Mist to prove that stop motion animation can capture the bold graphic design and unrelenting hype and excitement of the very best Saturday morning cartoons. With a score written by Ron Wasserman (the man behind the original Power Rangers theme song, among countless other bangers), this film is an homage to the cartoons we loved as kids. It is the culmination of our years spent working in the stop motion industry, honing our craft and dreaming of all the ways we could expand the boundaries of the stop motion medium. Inspired by anime and classic 90s cartoons, we at Apartment D believe that stop motion can be so much more than creepy gothic stories and action figures. It can be stylized, graphic, endearing and action-packed! We hope that you experience the same exhilaration and affection watching the Blue Mist as we felt watching the cartoons of our childhood!
