After Annecy explores the impact of transient connections, and the required risk in following our hearts. The film asks of us not only how we allow connection to change us, but what happens when we meet the inevitability of separation. I have found the possibility of this spiritual death and rebirth to be most salient while traveling; our hearts and minds become porous, ready to chart a new course with the changing of the wind. In the case of Julie and Remi, they are forced to consider what one day – and one person – means in the span of a lifetime.
