Filmmaker Statement

I wrote the first iteration of Angry Belly in April 2020, quarantined in a hotel in Texas. My body was still recovering from my abortion. I think unconsciously, I wanted to visualize my experience, or mirror myself back to me. Something over these past years continues to drew me back to this script. When I was working through my own abortion, I couldn’t find anything on the internet that validated or encapsulated how I was feeling. This film is an attempt at that, with the hope that someone might find themself in this story.
