Corri (writer) challenged me to help her produce and shoot a short film in the span of 2 days about her widowed mother's basement. This story is her family's, and the location we filmed in is her mother's collection of memories manifested in the form of a "garbage filled" basement. However, within that mess are precious mementos surviving generations. We wanted to shoot this as simply as possible and keep that feeling of what it was...two people exploring feelings of loss, remembrance, and acceptance with a camera. The performance Corri gives in this piece is so honest because it's real, her grief and remembrance are real, her sense of humor about this daunting future is real. No one explores the vulnerability of hoarding possessions and the effects It can have on the people who are encumbered by them and I'm proud of how we challenged ourselves to explore that.
