Jammed came about after a conversation I had over dinner with my mother. As an ex-civil servant she was sharing what she felt after coming back from a reunion gathering with her ex-colleagues. They were stating how far she could’ve climbed up the ladder in her career only if she had stayed (She retired early to take care of my siblings and I). In our conversation together, she questioned the “what ifs” and how wonderful it would’ve been to be financially independent contrasting to being dependent on your partner. What being a career woman would’ve meant to her truly touched me as a career-driven woman myself. Initially, Jammed was supposed to be a feminist perspective to having ambition and combating social responsibility yet, I've discovered that communally we are all somewhat burdened by the roles we play for each other. Ultimately, I hope Jammed highlights these complex inner conflicts that through introspection and varied perspectives, we all find solace through self-reflection.
