Referencing Aeschylus Clytemnestra and Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth brings the character Lady Clytemnestra. A story about a female understudy longing to be taken seriously for her passion for performing, but falling victim to the male-powered hierarchy of performance. Themes of beauty standards, abuse of power, and patriarchy in the performance industry are centered around the character's slow madness to be seen and heard. Both women fall victim to the male-structured system of beauty standards, I was inspired by recent events of directors being proven of rape and sexual abuse in the Greek and Cypriot entertainment theatre/film industry. There is a competitive and hateful dynamic between the two female characters in the story, which shine the lead actress to be the antagonist for Cecilia, distracting the audience to the true antagonistic force: the patriarchal structure pulling the strings
