My Eyes Are Up Here brings a vibrant, under-represented voice to the screen. A story of two first-date lovers is nothing new, but this film features a BAME woman with a lived experience of disability. She is a fully-formed character with strengths, flaws, humour, and genuine responses to the predicament she's in. The story is universally relatable, yet gives an insight into an unfamiliar and unique lived experience. Disability is often portrayed one-dimensionally on screen, but My Eyes Are Up Here offers deep insight into the lives of many who are unrepresented and unseen in mainstream media. We focus on the reality of those with lived experience of disability, as opposed to the stereotypes and tropes we are familiar with. This unique, multi-dimensional, misunderstood and authentic voice is at the heart of My Eyes Are Up Here, providing insight into the world as it takes on an entirely different form, in which the smallest action is often met by the biggest obstacles.
