Other Other is a metaphor for the difficulties of modern-day relationships and society's relationship with technology, and its effects on personal intimacy. It asks some big questions: Is reality better lived behind screens? Does love thrive across the digital divide or with the digital world as a mediator? Why are more people struggling with loneliness, even though we're more connected than ever? What is intimacy in the post-digital world? What social anxieties interact with on-line dating? Is the internet more real than reality? I was also looking to examine my own personal experiences with committed, long-distance, on-line relationships matched against the tensions and pressures of committing to a relationship in the real world, where there is no place to hide and nothing to obscure our blemishes. These are some of the themes that spurred the genesis of Other Other -- a grounded, personal, intimate fairy tale and love story between two people in an impossible romance.
