Rug Burn is second of three films in the “Rosemary Cinematic Universe,” which is a trilogy of stories I have created all featuring different interpretations of love through the perspective of the character, Rosemary. Rosemary is an optimistic and naive girl with an overly romantic world view. She believes love is like the rom-coms she grew up watching and that a relationship that looks perfect probably is perfect. However, through these three experiences, her faith in love begins to be tested. She realizes that everything is not always what it seems especially in love. Through my work, I think it’s become evident what my own perception of love is and that I believe there are an extensive amount of complexities that make it hard to follow any sort of rule book when it comes to love. I’ve been in relationships where on paper you’d think to yourself, “Why would you stay?” But, the answer to questions like that isn’t so simple. I think love is hard work and sometimes not worth the strife. I think sometimes you stay with someone for all the wrong reasons. So does this mean that I don’t think true love is attainable? On the contrary - does it mean that true love conquers all? I think the better question is - Is it worth it?
