‘State of Mind’ is a short film based around the changes that need to be made when losing someone dear to you. I admire the work of Edgar Wright, and as an experimental filmmaker I wanted to emulate some of this style in the opening scenes. The key message in this film is adjusting to the changes that life will constantly throw at you, some may be more difficult to handle than others. The idea for ‘State of Mind’ bloomed following the passing of my Nan on 15th September 2020. A connection with the series “After life”, and the resonance with the way these deals with grief and disconnect that loss can bring, inspired the script. The hope with this work is that in sharing it with an audience people will relate and connect with the story, and the idea that grief and loss can lead to hope and positive change.
