Filmmaker Statement

The original conversation was filmed in 2013. The idea was to simply let him talk, with a camera rolling, to see what a person addicted to alcohol had to say about being addicted to alcohol - a view to the mind of an addict, uninterrupted. Over the years I’d often thought about revisiting our film and shooting an update. That time finally came in 2023. My hopes are that other drug and alcoholic addicts, people in recovery, and the loved ones of addicts will find something of use here, whether that be understanding, hope or fortitude.
