Filmmaker Statement

The pandemic was challenging on so many levels, and certainly for marriages. Many women felt especially alienated with shouldering the heavy burdens of domestic duties, with a career and much more. I wanted to explore the tiny ray of hope I found--that perhaps the pandemic has forced couples to simplify, and find a new spark in their relationship. My story is about NANCY and NIKHIL, 30’s, who have lost their sense of joy in their marriage. My goal was to tell a gentle, thoughtful story that might make people chuckle. While he really craves a connection with her, Nancy is just too depleted. She’s checked out, and barely makes it through the day. And sex… Well forget about it. But Nikhil develops an awareness in a way that he maybe never otherwise had to, and steps up. As they make tiny connections, something inside her awakens, and rekindles a pathway toward intimacy. Tiny Joy is a heartfelt story about finding something that may have been lost, especially in troubled times.
