Growing up as a Filipino-American, I was aware of the sacrifices my family made to build a better life in America. But it wasn't until I discovered the forgotten story of the Manongs, the first wave of Filipino migrant workers, that I truly understood the depth of their sacrifice. Their resilience in the face of adversity, their unwavering determination, and their immense contributions to feeding America inspired me to produce this film. I wanted to tell a Filipino story in a way that resonates universally, highlighting the often-overlooked history of Asian-American immigrants. Ultimately, this story is about never giving up on your dreams, regardless of the obstacles you may face. The Manongs' sacrifices and their legacy continue to impact future generations of Filipino Americans, like myself. I hope to honor these remarkable individuals, remember their sacrifices, and learn from their lessons of perseverance, courage, and the enduring spirit of the Filipino spirit.
